John McDowell is a composer, producer, conductor, pianist and percussionist. Throughout his 30-year career, John has created work ranging from dance to film scores - including the soundtrack to the Academy award winning film Born into Brothels. Extensive studies abroad and international collaborations have shaped his unique music style.

His touring and recording credits include: the platinum selling band Rusted Root, Krishna Das, Ram Das, Born Into Brothels Ensemble, and Mamma Tongue. McDowell’s acclaimed solo CD, Speaking the Mamma Tongue is available through Raven Recordings and www.johnmcdowell.net

John is currently working on more movie scores and creating musical workshops for children at his farm in NY State.
